Trezor.io/start — Official Trezor® Setup & Quickstart Guide

1. Unboxing and Initial Checks (Security First)

Always inspect the packaging for any signs of tampering. Your security starts before you connect the device.

1.1. Inspect Package & Device

Look for the tamper-evident seal. If anything is suspicious, **DO NOT PROCEED** and contact Trezor Support.

2. Connecting and Installing Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is the official desktop application or web interface used to manage your wallet.

2.1. Navigate to the Official Start Page

CRITICAL: Type the address manually. Never use a search engine result that may be a phishing link.

Official Link Verification

Use the direct, secure link to begin the setup:

2.2. Download and Install Trezor Suite

You will be prompted to install the **Trezor Suite** desktop application (recommended) or use the web version.

Installation Security Note

Always verify the digital signature of the downloaded file (advanced user step).

3. Firmware Installation and Wallet Creation

Your new Trezor device ships without firmware. This ensures a clean, verified installation.

3.1. Install Latest Firmware

Follow the on-screen prompts in Trezor Suite. The firmware installation process is confirmed directly on the Trezor device screen.

3.2. Create New Wallet

Select the option to **Create New Wallet** within Trezor Suite.

4. The Recovery Seed (Your Master Key)

This is the most critical step. Your Recovery Seed is the only way to restore your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.

4.1. Write Down the Seed OFFLINE

The 12, 18, or 24 words will appear ONLY on your Trezor device screen. Write them down in order on the provided Recovery Seed Card.

5. Setting the PIN and Passphrase (Final Protection)

The PIN protects your device from physical theft. The Passphrase (optional) is an advanced security feature.

5.1. Set Your PIN

Enter your PIN by referencing the randomized grid on the Trezor device screen. **Do not look at the computer screen numbers!**

5.2. Enable Passphrase (Advanced)

This adds a '25th word' creating a hidden wallet, providing plausible deniability and superior security.

Final Setup Steps

Name your device and select the cryptocurrencies you want to track in Trezor Suite.

6. Testing and Ongoing Support

Confirming your setup is essential before transferring significant funds.

6.1. Perform a Recovery Check (Optional)

Test the recovery process with a small amount to ensure your seed is correctly recorded and recoverable.

6.2. Need Help?

For any issues or questions, consult the official support channels.
